Do you know about EBATES?

If you do any online shopping, you really should check out Ebates.  It is a website that features many of the major retailers you are probably already shopping with.  The cool part is, with Ebates, you get a percentage back of your total spend with said retailer!  It is almost like how a cash-back credit card works.

The retailer’s website on Ebates is their ACTUAL website.  If you are registered with that particular retailer, you can log on with your user id and password as you normally would.  So if you get points from a particular retailer for shopping, you won’t lose out on that functionality.  It’s not like you have to go through some “generic” online shopping mall to access your favorite retailers.

I will use Sephora as an example.  Sephora gives you points for each dollar you spend that can be redeemed for certain featured beauty products.  If I access via Ebates, I can log onto my Sephora account as usual, get my beauty points for shopping, and ALSO get a percentage back from Ebates on what I spend.  Total double-dipping!

The percentage back varies by retailer – usually between 2%-8%.  It may not sound like much, but it does really add up!  And if you’re going to spend that money anyways, why not get a little something back?  Also, occasionally retailers will double the cash back percentage during promotional periods, called a “Daily Double”.

Your cash back is dispersed quarterly.  You can chose to get an actual check in the mail, or electronically through PayPal.  I get a check, because I’m not really sure how the whole PayPal thing works on getting money back.  I sure do know how to use it to pay for something though – haha!!   You do have to have a minimum of $5.00 built up before they send you a check.  And it will keep “rolling” until you hit the $5.00 mark.

They keep you updated on the Daily Doubles and coupons/sales/special offers from your favorite stores.  It is a very user-friendly site.

I shop a lot on Amazon, as I’m sure most of you do as well.  Currently, they only offer cash back on Amazon purchases for clothing, swim, denim, and personal care appliances.  From what I understand, they are working to add more categories.

I joined in December of 2012.  Here is what my payment history looks like:

This is the summary of what I have been paid so far, and how much I have pending for my next check.

Ebates Account History

This is the history the checks I’ve been paid so far.

The hardest part for me was remembering to go through Ebates when I made an online purchase.  As you can see from my history, I have done much better, which equals more money back!

It is not a scam. It is free to join.  No hidden fees or weirdo stuff.  They make a commission for “directing” customers to websites, and they share that commission with we consumers, who in turn continue going to Ebates.  Happy little circle!

If you’re interested in checking it out, it’s!

Do you Glossybox? May 2013

Do you subscribe to any beauty sample services?  I personally did not know about them until recently.  In the past few months, I have subscribed to Glossybox, Birchbox, and Sample Society (who collaborates with Allure magazine).  So far, Glossybox is my favorite.  KPsays, “Beauty samples right to my front door?  Yes, please!!”.

It is a monthly beauty “sample’’ subscription service.  You can purchase one box at a time for $21, a 3 month service for $60.00, 6 month service for $115.00, or 12 months for $220.00.  The shipping for the boxes is free.

Once you subscribe, you fill out a beauty profile specifying your age, complexion, skin type, and main beauty concerns.  The boxes are then customized to match your needs, and BINGO!  It’s like Christmas and your birthday every month!  You also get points for referring new customers, answering surveys on the products you receive, and other promotions that can add up to get you a free box!

You get 5-6 deluxe samples in each shipment.  I did a 3 month trial, and ended up liking it so much I signed on for another 6 months.  I have actually gotten a full size product in each of my earlier boxes.  The samples are the larger size that allow you multiple uses to see if you really like the product.  On occasion, you do get the foil packets like in the magazine inserts, but those are generally products that you would only need to try once/twice to see if you like.

So, I thought I would share my most recent box.  This was the May 2013 box.  The boxes actually ship at the end of the said month.  So I actually got my “May” box at the end of May.

The packaging is super cute.  I keep the boxes to store makeup, nail polish, tools.  They are always the same size, sturdy, and stack nicely.  They include a “Glossybox Mag” that covers trends in makeup, fashion, color.  Also an insert describing the swag in your box.

And here we go!  It’s so exciting to see what goodies are packed inside!

AMOREPACIFIC Color Control Cushion Compact

AMOREPACIFIC Color Control Cushion Compact

AMOREPACIFIC Color Control Cushion Compact – This is a generous sample.  Will probably last me a couple of months.  It is an all-in-one complexion powder.  You can use it alone, over tinted moisturizer, or as a setting powder over your normal foundation routine.  It is not heavy at all.  I will probably use it over my tinted moisturizer now that it is getting hot and humid in my corner of the world.

etre belle Collagen & Aloe Vera Hydro Mask

etre belle Collagen & Aloe Vera Hydro Mask – I am a huge fan of Asian (mainly Japanese) face masks (or packs, as they are called).  This is a German one.  I am looking forward to trying it.  For those of you not familiar with these contraptions, they are a cotton fabric filled with essence, and you wear it over your face like a halloween mask.  It has cut-outs for your eyes, nose, and mouth.  It is really soothing and comfortable to wear.  You apply it for 10-15 minutes after your normal cleansing routine, remove the mask, gently rub in what’s left on your face, and you’re done.  The next day you can really feel a difference in your skin.  This sample is just one mask.

MY PRIME Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer

MY PRIME Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer – This is a generous size tube.  Will last me several applications.  I love a matte look in the summer.  This is really lightweight, has no fragrance, and feels really good on your skin.  It is a moisturizer/primer all in one!  Will definitely buy the full size.

NICKA K NEW YORK Absolute! Perfume Stick

NICKA K NEW YORK Absolute! Perfume Stick – I got the Parc de 59.  There were a couple of other fragrance sticks circling around out there.  I haven’t used a fragrance stick since Junior High!!!!  It’s hard to tell from the photo, but I would consider this a full size (Glossybox did not describe it as such).  I will get just as much use from this as a full size spray cologne/perfume.  The scent is just gorgeous!  If you can imagine what “green” would smell like (and I don’t mean organic produce!!!)….it is crisp, clean, light.  I ADORE it!  I just slicked some onto my wrists as I’m writing this.  Oh, where is smell-o-vision when we need it!  KPsays, “smells like green heaven”.

European Wax Center The Exfoliate, and Slow It Body Wash

European Wax Center The Exfoliate, and Slow It Body Wash – also included a coupon for a complimentary wax at the European Wax Center.  The closest location to me was, of course, Atlanta and Charlotte.  So will not be taking advantage of that.  If I did live in those metro areas, I definitely would be marching my little coupon up there and getting KP waxed!!!  These are those “foil” packet samples I referred to earlier, but, like I said, they are an exfoliant and wash, so I will probably get 2 uses out of them, enough to know if I like it or not.  I am a huge fan of body exfoliants, so we’ll see how it goes……

Sebastian Professional – Volupt Spray

Sebastian Professional – Volupt Spray – This is a volumizing  spray gel.  You can spritz it on your roots before blow-drying, or mist it throughout your hair and air dry for waves/curls.  It has a nice scent, and doesn’t leave my hair “crunchy”.

All in all, I am always pleased with my Glossybox booty.  I will do a review on my other sample programs soon.

Layla Hologram Effect Nail Polish Review

I am a nail polish junkie!  So when I heard there was a holographic nail polish out there, I had to find it and try it out for myself.  I purchased the “Flash Black” and “Mermaid Spell”.  Below are the photos I took of the “Flash Black” finished product (in my car, I know, but it had the best light!!):

The effect was beautiful – in the direct sunlight!  Indoors, it just looked like your run of the mill “glitter” polish.  Nothing extraordinary.  So when I was out running errands, and got a look at my nails outside, I had to snap some pics because I was mesmerized!!!!

I started off with “Nfu-Oh Aqua Base”, which I use for all unusual nail polishes, two coats of the hologram polish, and my go-to top coat, “Essie good to go!”.

**After I finished doing my nails, one of my cats, also mesmerized by the hologram effect, batted the polish onto the floor, strategically cornered the offending bottle, and let it know who was Boss by clawing/chewing the cap.  KPsays, “Don’t mess with my cat people”.**

Even with the preventive top coat/base coat, the polish chipped big-time the next day.  And continued to deteriorate throughout the week.

I was very disappointed with the whole experience.  If you want to try it for yourself, I purchased the Nfu-Oh Aqua Base and the  hologram Effect polishes at  The polishes are $15.50 each, basecoat $12.50.  The basecoat is totally worth it for other uses.  If you live in a larger area than myself, your local Ulta store may have the polishes.

I apologize for not having any indoor photos.  But I just didn’t see the point.  This is actually my FIRST blog entry, so I will be better prepared with photos of every little thing on my next subject.

KPsays, “pass” on the hologram…..

Meeting My First Blogger Friend!

Hello Lovelies!! Wondering where I’ve been these few weeks?  Or maybe not.

I have been in the “land down under; where women glow, and men plunder”.  We broke the trip up by staying in LA the night before, then getting herded into the back of the plane for the final leg to our dream destination, Sydney, Australia!!!!

What a lovely backdrop to meet my first ever beauty/fashion blogger, Rosie, fromaredlipandanudeshoe.  I had to fly over 7500 miles to have a meetup with a blogger!!  We met in the lobby of our hotel, (knew her the instant that I saw her), and we chatted/caught up a bit, and decided to move the party to the Opera Bar at Darling Harbour, near the Opera House.

Such a beautiful place to hang out and talk. I cannot even describe how beautiful the view was.  Right on Darling Harbour, with views of the Opera House!!!!!  aaaah!

Rosie & Me

Rosie and I blog about similar things, but I thought it was so awesome she is a MUSIC person like me.  Yeah, we talked about makeup, fashion, blog strategy/ideas/frustrations, but our common denominator was MUSIC!!!  We sang all sorts of of songs from the 80s, and I learned of her obsession fondness for Def Leppard, and how much we really have in common, other than makeup.

She is so witty, funny, gorgeous (and she has this little accent?).  I think I will keep her.

I met her on the first night in Australia, we were downing the Champers, and I tapped out!!!  I was drunk, sleepy, and had to go.  Also got to meet Rosie’s friend Daph who took this photo. As you can see, I’m ready for night night!  After a fifteen hour flight and the time change, I really think I held out pretty well!

Rosie, thank you for making the effort to meet me!  I am so happy to know you now. Here’s to many more meetups love!

I have HEAPS of reviews of products coming up since I’ve been home.  Just getting over the jet lag!  Oy!!!

Again, thanks for reading, kxoxosignaturenew
