Meeting My First Blogger Friend!

Hello Lovelies!! Wondering where I’ve been these few weeks?  Or maybe not.

I have been in the “land down under; where women glow, and men plunder”.  We broke the trip up by staying in LA the night before, then getting herded into the back of the plane for the final leg to our dream destination, Sydney, Australia!!!!

What a lovely backdrop to meet my first ever beauty/fashion blogger, Rosie, fromaredlipandanudeshoe.  I had to fly over 7500 miles to have a meetup with a blogger!!  We met in the lobby of our hotel, (knew her the instant that I saw her), and we chatted/caught up a bit, and decided to move the party to the Opera Bar at Darling Harbour, near the Opera House.

Such a beautiful place to hang out and talk. I cannot even describe how beautiful the view was.  Right on Darling Harbour, with views of the Opera House!!!!!  aaaah!

Rosie & Me

Rosie and I blog about similar things, but I thought it was so awesome she is a MUSIC person like me.  Yeah, we talked about makeup, fashion, blog strategy/ideas/frustrations, but our common denominator was MUSIC!!!  We sang all sorts of of songs from the 80s, and I learned of her obsession fondness for Def Leppard, and how much we really have in common, other than makeup.

She is so witty, funny, gorgeous (and she has this little accent?).  I think I will keep her.

I met her on the first night in Australia, we were downing the Champers, and I tapped out!!!  I was drunk, sleepy, and had to go.  Also got to meet Rosie’s friend Daph who took this photo. As you can see, I’m ready for night night!  After a fifteen hour flight and the time change, I really think I held out pretty well!

Rosie, thank you for making the effort to meet me!  I am so happy to know you now. Here’s to many more meetups love!

I have HEAPS of reviews of products coming up since I’ve been home.  Just getting over the jet lag!  Oy!!!

Again, thanks for reading, kxoxosignaturenew

Tori Amos Unrepentant Geraldines Tour Atlanta Review

Hello my lovely readers!  If you have read my bio on any of my social media, you would know I classify myself “Tori Amos Obsessed”.  I had the pleasure of seeing her on August 19 in Atlanta, GA.  After getting home the next day after that fabulous performance, I went online hoping some other fans who attended that show might have shared their thoughts.  NONE.  So, for what it’s worth, I want to give MY Tori Amos Unrepentant Geraldines Tour Atlanta Review.  If you are not a Tori fan, feel free to skip this, and we’ll catch up later!

Me & Essa Tori Amos Concert Atlanta GA

My lovely companion is my sweet friend Essa.  It was her first Tori concert, and I am honored that  we experienced it together.  Please forgive the grainy photos – I only had my phone camera with me.

This show was at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.  It is an absolutely beautiful venue, complete with the cool box seats elevated near the front of the stage.  We were in the mid-level mezzanine seats, towards the right side of the stage.  So my pictures are not up close and personal with Tori.  On a side note, we stayed at the Embassy Suites Galleria, which is  literally right next door to the venue.  We actually walked back and forth without having to worry about a cab.  Sweet!

We got ourselves some wine, found our seats, and eagerly waited for the show to begin.  Oh, the anticipation!!!  The lady next to us actually got to do the meet and greet with Tori, and showed us the pictures.  So jelly!!!

Tori Amos Setup Atlanta GA

We noticed there was no set up for her band.  Just keyboards and her trademark Bosendorfer.  Then, from the right side of the stage, she appeared!  Resplendent in her flowy top, killer heels, and flaming red hair.  She did stop and shake hands with some fans who were right up next to the stage.

The one thing that I find truly amazing about Tori is that during her tours, she never does the same set list.  Every performance is a different set of songs.  I honestly don’t know how she does it.  Different lyrics every night would be hard enough, but being responsible for the accompanying music also???  However, she did start each show this go round with the same opening song, “Parasol”.  She only did two new songs from Geraldines.  The rest of the set was classic, old school favorites.

Being a performing arts venue, the acoustics were unreal.  The accompanying light “show” was perfect and really enhanced each song.  What blew my mind was that this tiny, lone woman with only her big old grand piano and keyboards, totally commanded that stage.  Her voice never wavered as she hit all the high notes and sang her ass off.  She sounds just as good live as her studio recordings.  She is a mesmerizing performer with her dramatic hand gestures, perfectly timed hard “slaps” on her piano, and the maniacal, down and dirty piano playing (Little Amsterdam, Father Lucifer, Cornflake Girl, Precious Things).  Then she just as easily slows things down and makes your heart feel like it’s just going to bust wide open with emotion (Baker Baker, Pandora’s Aquarium, Scarlet’s Walk).  And straddling her bench to play piano with one hand, and keyboards/organ with the other, simultaneously?  Get out.

Tori Amos Atlanta GA

Kinda hard to see in my blurry pic.  Lizards Lounge is where she does her take on two cover songs.  She told us that “Out Here On My Own” (Irene Cara/Fame) was a song she played a lot in piano bars back in the day and it was a personal favorite of hers.  Then during “Rocket Man” (Elton John), she dropped the F-bomb when she got a little tangled up in the opening lyrics, saying, “okay, okay, okay” and laughing until she got herself straightened out.  That alone proved to me that she is indeed human, and can make a teeny mistake.  Like I said, it was blowing my mind that she did so many different songs each show.

During the changeover, her keyboards were swapped out for her Hammond Organ.  “The Beekeeper” was goose-bump-inducing haunting.  Seriously.

Essa and I were extremely pleased with the songs we got to hear.  “Floating City” is from her Y Tori Kant read days, so it’s a rarity.  “Your Cloud” is probably my absolute favorite Tori song, and I got a little teary when she played it.  She also was a bit choked up afterwards, saying she didn’t really play that song very much these days.  “Winter” pushed Essa over the edge.

It was a fabulous evening, and I wish I could go to more shows when she tours in the US.

Again, thanks for reading!  kxoxo

Dyson Digital Slim D35 Cordless Vacuum Review

Whaaaat?  Yes, this is indeed a household appliance post (not sponsored).  I really wanted to share my Dyson Digital Slim D35 Cordless Vacuum Review because it is such a time saver that really helps you keep your house clean.  Makes life really simple.  Who doesn’t need a bit of that?

As many of you know, I share my house with a bunch of pets.  Fortunately, my 78 pound fur baby (the largest) does not shed, since he is a poodle.  But everyone else produces enough fluff to make several sweaters.  Per day.  My house sometimes looks like a set from an old time Western ghost town movie with all the fur “tumbleweeds” that roll about.  Keeping my floors clean is practically a part-time job.  So whether you’ve got pets, children, busy career, or all of the above, this baby is a lifesaver.

If you’re not familiar with Dyson products, they make everything foolproof.  All the components click together seamlessly and everything is clearly marked.  Another plus is that it is easy to disassemble and clean.  So no icky smells carrying over each time you fire up the machine.

At the heart of this unit is the “motor” itself.

As you can see, there is a place to attach all the components, an easy to use empty button, and the power button you press while doing the vacuuming (the blue section houses the filter, which has easy access and is easy to clean).

At the back of the unit/handle, there is a “boost” button to give you exta oomph if needed.

I couldn’t take a full picture of the above unit with the extension rod in place (as shown on the box in the first photo).  But you snap it on at the attachment nozzle.  It allows you to use it more or less as a floor vacuum, or to reach high corners of your house to suck up cobwebs or anything else lurking higher up.  Again, my trusty model Murphy is helping.  One of the culprits of me needing this in the first place.

Dyson Extension Tool

The first attachment is the motorized floor tool.  It can be used on carpet or any surface.

It also comes with a charging station, combination tool, and crevice tool (that easily snaps into the attachment nozzle).

You an also use it as a hand vac, as all the accessories fit directly into the attachment nozzle.

Dyson Hand Vacuum

It is cordless, and when not in use, you should keep it charging (I haven’t mounted my charging station yet!).  It lasts between 15 minutes to 6 minutes, depending which tools you use and if you use the boost button.  No matter what I do, it lasts long enough for me to get the cat/dog fur up.  The suction is so powerful it even picks up any sand/dirt.  And it is very lightweight!

I love that you can use it as a floor/high area vacuum, as well as a handheld.  Beats the crap out of the Dustbuster from the days of old!  You can use this to easily clean your stairs inside as well as your car outside!

Nothing beats a good ‘ol full size vacuum and mop for cleaning floors, but this supplements my in between cleanings fantastically!  My “real” vacuum is a Dyson as well.

It is rather pricey at $299.  I purchased mine during Black Friday when Dyson was offering 20% off, and Ebates had a deal.  Keep an eye out for other retailers that sell this for deals (Target, Sears, Bed, Bath, & Beyond).  It really is a great cordless vac!  The specs of all the scientific details that I don’t understand are on the Dyson website. For bunny lover, also check the best indoor & outdoor rabbit hutch reviews!
