Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

Hello beautiful people!  Happy Chinese New Year to those who celebrate!  My family lived in Taiwan many years ago, and I remember what a fun and festive time the Lunar New Year was.  Plus, we got to be out of school for like two weeks!  On top of just having the American Christmas holiday.  Oh, the good old days!

I believe this post on the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation will wrap up the reviews on my recent foundation splurges.  And as with the last few newbies I’ve tried out, this baby did not disappoint!

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

This is my first Laura Mercier foundation.  The shade offerings are rather limited at 10.  If you are on the fairer side complexion wise, you are in luck.  Deeper lovelies, you will be disappointed.  I am an NC40 in MAC, and I matched the darkest shade they have, Hazelnut Beige.  So, yours truly is as dark as the color chart gets with this one.

Hazelnut Beige is described as a “medium beige with neutral undertones”.

The color showing through the tube is the actual foundation.  I personally think it does have a rather yellow undertone, which is probably the reason the shade works for me.

I love, love, love this foundation.  It is a rather full coverage formula, but leaves a luminous and dewy finish.  It also covered up my redness and hyper-pigmentation, so I did not have to use concealer to hide that ickiness.

It comes in a handy squeeze tube, with instructions to “Shake Well”.  A little hard to do with a tube!  I just sort of squish it around and attempt to shake it up.  And let me tell you, a little goes a long way.  You can end up with serious cakeface if you put too much on.  You do need to work fast, as it does dry quickly.  I am dry (especially in winter), so it lasted all day on me without budging.

My beloved Shiseido foundation brush is my first choice to apply this.  Next is the Beauty Blender.  It is a tad thick, but is very creamy and applies smoothly, and I prefer the finish my brush gives.

So, another winner to add to my rotation.  Hopefully more shades will be added to cover darker complexions.

Are you a Laura Mercier fan?

Hi Karen! Finally able to catch up on your posts! I had left back my computer charger and had to just rely on my phone for over a week! Pure torture!

Thank you for the post on this LM foundation. I am loving the fact that it’s something that sets fast. Nothing worse than melting makeup you know, living in Asia and all! Lol
Hope to check this out at the DF soon ;-)

The fact that you said that it worked on your dry skin makes me want to add this to my wishlist. It can be so hard to find formulas that work, especially in the colder months. Hi, Murphy, you little cutie! He and Jade need to have a long-distance relationship. That’s her way of helping too!

Our kitties would be a true love match! haha! I would definitely go by Sephora and get a sample Wendy. It is fuller coverage, but it worked great on my dry skin :)

I love everything I have tried from Laura Mercier. I really like the mineral powder foundation, but that’s the only Laura Mercier foundation product I have tried. All I hear is good things about the Silk Creme foundation, though. If I ever want something with serious coverage, I’ll go for this one!

It’s a great fuller coverage foundation. I am thinking of trying either the mineral powder foundation or the regular powder foundation. But I think I have enough at the moment, so next haul :)

Hi! Thank you for stopping by, and I’m glad you liked my post! I am on the dry side, and this worked great for me. Since it is a “creme” formula, I’m not sure how it will do on oily areas. Sorry to not be of more help! I’m hoping you could get a sample and try it out before investing. That would be the best bet :)

haha! Maybe try a sample first before trying again? I am dry, so it worked really well for me. Probably not a good pick during the humid summer months though. We shall see! Of course, it’s summer year round for you, so maybe not a good choice :)
